I feel like Scully knew what was going on in Ice, way back in Season One. She didn't acknowlege that the worms were from outer space, like Mulder believed, but she did acknowledge that they had been living under the ice for billions of years and if I remember correctly she agreed that they were silicon based and not carbon based (though I could be completely off base with that one, it's been a long time since I've seen the episode).

Just to put in my $.02 about the "one in five billion" quote. I can see how it's a great shipper line, but I saw it as manipulation, pure and simple. Mulder asks Scully to do an autopsy, Scully says no. Mulder ships the body to Scully anyway (because he always gets what he wants), and Scully does just an external exam. Mulder asks Scully to do a more thorough exam, Scully says no. Mulder breaks out the charm and the "one in five billion" comment. Next scene: Scully doing the complete autopsy. Total manipulation. I think that Mulder used his manipulative powers over Scully in the movie too, with his "you keep me honest" speech in the hallway. He didn't want Scully to leave, so he said what he had to to keep her there. To get to her to do what he wants. I suppose those interpretations are why I'm a noromo, but they're also part of the reason Mulder gets on my nerves. He's so self centered!
