Subject: But didn't Mulder tell her. . .

at the end of the movie that she should leave him and go be a doctor?? Wasn't that a case of him putting what would be best for her over what he wanted??
I tend to agree with det's interpretation of why Mulder said some of the stuff to Scully that he did; yes, he's trying to talk her into staying with him, but *why* does it matter to him so much that she stays with him?? Because he's in love with her!!!
I know a lot of people over the years have talked about the various ways Mulder "manipulated" Scully into staying on the X-Files with him but, IMHO, that kind of shows a disrespect for Scully. She's an intelligent, well-educated adult. She was originally assigned to the X-Files by other people but had *numerous* chances to leave over the years and chose to stay. I think we have to assume that she made that choice freely because she enjoyed the work/was in love with Mulder/whatever.
