Subject: Has she always wanted Mulder to call her Dana?
In reply to: Scully 's message, "Maybe...." on 18:21:32 01/17/01 Wed

The times that he has she acted like it sounded strange to hear him say it.

I don't discount her desire for male companionship and wanting to be treated more like a woman, but
I do mind this characterization the writers have put in that always has her picking the "wrong" guy. The writers have said they are all in love with Scully and they seem to have created this fantasy of a damsel in distress who doesn't use her brain whenever she gets around a man who shows any interest. I think it's somewhat demeaning to the Scully character to always have her be this way.

With Ed, it's true there wasn't reaky anything on the surface wrong with him, but the guy in Milagro should have set off some bells. Wasn't the scene in the church whewre he pretty much admits he's been stalking her before the scene where she visited him in his apartment? And even then when he tells her he wanted to find an apartment in her building but couldn't so he moved into her partner's building, she still allows herself to be mesmorized by him like he has some knd of contro over her.
i's like she's thinking "Ooh! This scary stalker man is HOT!" Sorry but she's a professional. She should know how to sense danger and stay away. It seems to me that her FBI instincs should react better than this.

I think it's ok for her to be portrayed as som eone who craves affection and be naive in relationaships. Mulder is like that too. He hasn't made the best chices either?! But why does Scully have to lose all anbility to use her smarts and know when things just aren't kosher? I just think that part of their roles as FBI agents is to be able to read people and situations a little better.

And I think i've commented on this before that if Scully aparently likes to be treated this way and likes this type of guy then Mulder, who treats her as an equal, doesn't stand a chance.
