Mulder has always wanted to trust Krycek. Hell, Mulder wants to trust everyone, despite what he says. From the introduction of the Krycek character Mulder has trusted him. Krycek played Mulder perfectly in their first case together; by the end of the case Mulder was telling him lots of stuff. Then Krycek breaks the trust and disappears. Later in the series Mulder trusts Krycek to take him to the digital tape he stole. Krycek breaks that trust too, even though it was against his will since he was inhabited by an alien. Next time we see Krycek is in Tunguska. Mulder acts all pissed to see him, but ends up trusting him. Then Krycek breaks that trust as well. Fast forward to The Red and the black, Mulder trusts Krycek again. Fast forward to Requiem. Mulder acts pissed to see Krycek, then ends up trusting him. The questions is, WHY does Mulder always end up trusting Krycek? How big of an idiot is he? Is he an idiot at all? What does he get from Krycek (besides a little excitement ;-))

I think it all goes down to the core of their relationship. To the quality that makes it something like a lovers' relationship. If Mulder truly had no use for Krycek, why would he keep behaving the way he does? Because he *wants to believe*. In the interaction between the two of them, it's always Krycek who displays the most passion. But if Mulder had no emotional attachment, he wouldn't keep putting himself through what he does. It's a very dysfunctional relationship, to be sure.
