Subject: Season Three was a very good season!

A lot of what we now think of as really "classic" XF eps came from season three; i.e. "Blessing Way/Paper Clip" and "Pusher". I didn't care all that much for season two; too many Scullylite eps, due to GA's real life pregnancy.
Like you, Detoured, I started watching XF about midway through season four. But season six was when I really got *TOTALLY* into it; writing fanfic (I'd begun reading fanfic sometime during season five), visiting message boards, etc.
