Subject: But we *love* the BBC! (in our dreams)
In reply to: detoured 's message, "The BBC has the schedule all messed up!" on 01:17:50 07/17/00 Mon

The BBC said they were pulling Agua Mala because of sensitivity over a national news item. Not knowing the content of AM, I can't say what that news item was. But itr doesn't make sense that they suddenly decided to show 'Milagro'. From what you're saying, we would still have had three eps to go after Monday, before Milagro. Odd that they chose this one.

Anyway - they did - so if there has been 'emotional development' by Scully (or by both), then it makes sense that she was exhibiting it here.

I agree John Hawkes was good. He and Doug Hutchison would make a creepy pair. A bit unkind; but I have only ever seen DH as a baddie. Yes, the church scene was very good. I would have been more freaked out than Scully, I think (she's FBI!) She went all 'peculiar' didn't she? Perhaps she felt drawn into his creativity! It was quite strange how she seemed to behave just how he said, but maybe his fan fic style ramblings were in his head only and Scully proper wasn't doing any of the things attributed to her. I was a bit disturbed by ' the dampened strings of her instrument' and 'the middle C' Hmm, quite!!!

Yes I did think Mulder exhibited jealousy, along with the usual concern. Whether he recognises it as jealousy or not, I don't know. I thought Scully looked embarrassed when Mulder asker her if she had read the manuscript. He was a bit challenging, then, I think. I imagined him saying "Do you *want* this man to have that sort of picture of you written down? Aren't you annoyed? I know I am"

I noticed the director was very careful not to have any real reaction, or exchanges of looks, when Padgett said "Agent Scully is already in love". I wished there had been something. It was cut away from too quickly. I agree, it *is* a bit creepy of Carter, Shiban etc to admit to being in love with Scully. I haven't heard that before.

Ah, I see - the script was burned so Scully didn't die. Also convenient for those who say she is now immortal. In fact, each time she survives, people will say that, won't they? Well, I wondered if Padgett was letting his imagination run away with him, pulling out his own heart and burning it. It was after this that he got his inspiration. Maybe the bottom line was you have to be heartless to be a ruthless killer and he had to go through that, in order to write successfully.

PS Mulder is 'nice', it's true. But is he 'normal'? Debateable..... ;-)
