OK - the point being made is that Scully should have gone out to save Mulder, when the alternative was to help a woman in labour. Mmmm, maybe we should think of Scully's duty as an FBI agent and also her obligations as a medic. To abandon those people, who were all in danger from the 'monster' too, would have been to abandon her duty to the public. I think it would have been very unprofessional of her to leave them alone. Whilst it would have been an impetuous and emotional reaction to go out and try to save her partner, I have to admire her for making the decision she made. Mulder's a resourceful guy - Scully must have been optimstic that he would survive.

I understand people thinking it looks bad, but I think she did what she did for the right reasons.
