I had the same reacton as SMH. The funniest thing for me was during the wake scene when the Gunmen were acting so weird (I knew something must be wrong!) and I yelled at the screen. Well unlike you, SMH, I rarely talk to the TV during XF but I said out loud something like, 'What is wrong with everyone?!!!' I was so frustrated at that point. And then almost immediately after I said that Scully said almost exactly the same thing!

It was so much fun being confused by this and not knowing what was happening. I read a lot of comments on my mailing list from people who said they had read all the spoilers and already knew in advance. Now this is a perfect example of why spoilers are bad! It's so much more enjoyable to be kept guessing. That's one of the main staples of the program. And I agree that we don't wlways get to be so perplexed like this in othr episodes.

I really enjoyed the look into Mulder and Scully's psyches and how they see each other. In a way it sort of has similarities to Bad Blood but this was much more serious and significant. Both of them so want to please the other and have been so intertwined as partners much more than they realise. Here we thought Mulder would be happy to hear Scully says she believes him about all the alien stuff and when she finally does his first reaction is that something must be wrong with Scully and he doesn't like it! It kind proves the point of what Mulder said in the hallway scene in FTF that he needs her to keep him honest and not just believe everything he says outright. I know a lot of us have discussed at length how we feel that Mulder really doesn't want a partner who agrees with him all the time. He wants one who makes him work harder than that and Field Trip illustrates that.

I liked the scene where she heard the guy repeating her exact words too. It seemed like we were seeing that Scully has a lot more doubt and uncertainity about herself as an agent and her abilities to counter Mulder's theories. I thought the whole thing was really interesting the way it showed how much they rely on each other as partners to keep that balance between them. Neither of them wants to be superior to the other. So going back to the argument at the beginning with Mulder saying he was right most of the time and Scully should admit to that, what we really learn is that he would not be happy with her like that at all. I thought this was one of the best epsiodes that has looked at their working partnership.

And it also seems like her worst nightmare is Mulder's death.

I loved the scene with Mulder showing her his little alien friend. Perhaps some double entendre undertones?---"Come into my bedroom Scully and I'll show you my alien!" That's what's important to him! Some of us I remember thought it looked like a scene right out of ET when Elliot introduced ET to his brother and sister. All we needed was for Mulder to say, "I'm keeping him."

Hey Devlin do you get previews for the next ep at the end of the show? Because one of the previews we got was the alien scene so everyone was sure that this was going to be the ep where Mulder has proof and makes Scully believe. I'm glad it turned out this way instead.

This was one of my favorites from Season 6 too. Very well put together by the writers. They can really deliver when they set their minds to it.

And an on set story: When GA and DD were covered with all the goop DD wrote 1-900-PUDDING on his chest. What a nut! :-)
