Are they New York players, the ones I've heard of? I didn't even know that. I really can't say why I know their names. Some sports stars just enter the public consciousness. I mean, I know the names but I don't know any more. It must come from literature and movies.

I did, of course, know that Joe DiMaggio was married to Marilyn and that his name was mentioned in the S&G song. BTW, although they are considered very sixties/seventies, I love Simon and Garfunkel. Their music sounds like an era in my mind! I love melodic tunes with harmonies....

Have you read 'Underworld' by Don De Lillo? Fantastic book (fiction) about the United States since the fifties, encompassing the story of a famous baseball game, the cold war and nuclear proliferation. Do read it if you haven't!

It's the normal thing to recognise Pele's name - what makes us laugh here (Do I mean 'laugh'?) is that the British invented football, yet almost any other country seems better at it on the international stage than we are. At national level, the fans of city/town teams are totally fervent!

I just don't imagine advanced alien beings needing currency. I imagine them being way past desiring physical 'things' and being more spiritual. But then again, morphing into the shape of a highly muscled human suggests they have *some* outward designs on life....!!
