When I knew 'Millennium' was going to be shown in Britain, I really looked forward to it. It had the elements of excellent television (IMHO): Serial killers, criminal profiling, Lance Henrickson, and of course the Chris Carter pedigree. Outside TXF, my favourite TV shows are cop shows (NYPD Blue, Prime Suspect, Cracker starring Robbie Coltrane). I loved Lance in 'Aliens' and I have always rated him as actor. But when the show began, it was quite bizarre:

Frank was not a genuine profiler (like Mulder!!) but a seer. His line "I see what the killer sees" only brought him helpful visions of the killer's mind. He had this ability to see the murders taking place. So - to me it was a strange telepathy he had, not an understanding of psychology from the outside. The reason I love Mulder is because he can work out someone's actions and the type of person they are from their crimes.

The other thing that I didn't like about Millennium was the very sickly cloying wife and child. Frank would take his work home with him and he had a sort of 'Basement of Horrors', which they were always trying to protect little Jordan from being exposed to. His wife was insipid. It bothered me because she was also a professional (a social worker) but it always seemed to be Frank's work that took precendence. She was forever mopping his brow and fawning over him to make sure he was OK. Sorry if it's uncaring but - yuk!!

Added to that - Black didn't have a sense of humour, you're right, and who the heck were this mysterious Millennium Group? I think later on, there was an attempt to open it up a bit more, but it finished here way before then...
