I was thrown by the insertion of adverts, just after the opening titles of programmes, when I visited America, too! The other thing that is different to British TV is that when the commercial break comes to an end, we always have a caption that indicates that we are back with the programme. In the States, there was nothing - the programme had just started up again and there was a tiny logo in the bottom corner. I noticed it first when I watching 'Star Trek: The Next Generation'. It took some getting used to!
