You've probably seen that film. The term 'yankee' must have been pre WWI because that's also what the Southerners called the Northerners during the Civil War era.

I don't know if what I heard about the term is true. It's just something someone said on the radio who acted like he knew what he was talking about.
There must be a meaning for the actual word though and that explanation seemed to fit.

So Giant Rounders does seem like baseball?
