Subject: And Season 4 was mine...
In reply to: Scully'sMyHero 's message, "Good Points. I'm jaded, though, cause S5 was my first XF experience" on 10:08:28 09/04/00 Mon

Well I had seen The Calusari first but I consider Season 4 as when I officially started watching and that's when I became a fan. I know how you feel. Even though it's porbably not the best season (I think S2 or 3 would be) I have spexial fondnes for Season 4. And emotionally charged is right! Here I thought I was just watching a Sci fi show and then I have to deal with one of the characters becoming very ill. No fair!

I think there was a point in Season 5 where Mulder and Scully were at odds with each other and that might have intentionally been shown on screen. Yeah there was some changes with Mulder's 'no aliens' new way of thinking. It would be nice to think that all of that was carefully orchestrated on screen but with the stand alones I often wonder if there is any connection to each episode at all, you know what I mean? Once in awhile they will connect things like Mulder's broken finger but that seems to be rare. I like to think DD and GA are thinking about the ongoing storyline for all the episodes but I don't know if the writers reflect that in scripts. And I wish there had been more follow through in the cancer arc instead of it just cropping up from time to time. Maybe you saw something in S5 in regard to that that I didn't. Who knows if there was a reflection of her remission in how things were played. I can't really say. I was glad they at last acknowledged it in Detour and linked that ep, which was a stand alone, with the Redux events. That's one reason I liked Detour so much. ;-) For once they followed through! I was realy annoyed after Memento Mori when they didn't even mention her illness again for several episodes.

I don't know. I may have been imagining some things because I started reading all the stuff in the press about the behind the scenes bad stuff rumored to be going on and I think it affected my viewing. I wondered if DD and GA were getting along at all and that bothered me.
Sometimes I wish I hadn't read all that stuff but I was on an XF craving binge and read anything and everything!
I've learned since tht it can be better not to know so much. Maybe the CSM is right! LOL

But I still think their chemistry has been much better at other times. Even when M&S are fighting they still can be electric. For example in The Beginning M&S were very short and snippy with each other and a lot of fans hated that episode in part because of that but I thought the tension betwen them in that was great. Even though M&S were having problems re: Diana, etc., I felt DD and GA were working together great in that one.

I love Bad Blood! That was on the other night and I was watching some of it and cracking up at the Sheriff when he says, "Ya'll must be the government people" with his big buck teeth (that only Mulder saw! lol).

Season 6 did have some rather disposable episodes but I thought DD and GA's chemistry throughout the season was better than it had been so even in the weak ones I enjoyed watching the two of them together. Even in Agua Mala! They had some good scenes in the car together for example. It's not their fault that the script was bad.

I liked the Mulder and Scully phone scenes in Chinga a lot. M&S were good in that one. (But then they weren't really together and probably not talking to each other on the phone). I even liked Scully's relationship with the town sheriff in that. All the eps where Scully works with other law enforcement officials (like the guy Christmas Carol too) should help us believe that episodes with her and Doggett could prove interesting after all. I hope! I didn't care for the killer doll story though. Stephen King should have done better.

Schizogeny is my most hated episode of all!

I posted a thread abut the Season 8 trailer on the S8 board SMH so you can wander over and comment on it if you like! I'd like to know what everyone thought. :-)

det :-)
