I only saw The Phantom Menace once after having seen its three predecessors numerous times. But I think I was losing interest when I started to hear about the cast. I didn't like the fact that they were using well known actors. I think they should only use unknowns. It's not like people weren't going to go see it if it didn't have a big star in it.

I'm a bit more optimistic about the second one. I'm hoping its darker in tone and the guy cast to play Anakin looks promising. TPM was too much of a kiddie movie and for years I had read Lucas saying that the first trilogy was going to be extremely dark. This was too upbeat!

I didn't see American Beauty. It didn't interest me. I don't always like that sort of storyline where we laugh at dysfunctional people in that way (unless its something really unique). I think AB was a Hollywood industry favorite because there are probably a lot of Hollywood people just like the people in the movie! Scary!

I liked Jerry McGuire too but it wasn't an all time favorite or anything. I saw much of it from upstairs in a film projection booth so it's hard to judge.

det, trying to think of examles of overhyped films I was disappointed in. I know there must be some!
