Subject: Wow - Mulder finds God and his quest is over!
In reply to: Islandgirl 's message, "Mulder and religion" on 08:40:09 09/25/00 Mon

A very daring ending. It's not so much that I have seen signs of Mulder even having a basic religion. I haven't seen evidence of him ever believing. He has been tolerant over Scully's beliefs, but when she comes to him with a mysterious X-Filey circumstances, surrounding the Church - he always tries to pooh-pooh her ideas. He won't entertain the idea that she has witnessed a miracle or seen a Seraphim or the soul of Emily. I think he sees religion as different to what *he* is doing, but it appears to me that the strangeness and visionary things fall right into the category of the Unexplained. Why did all those girls die in the same way, with their eyes burned out? Mulder would have jumped at the chance of seeing the weird and XF potential of this if he hadn't encountered Father Gregory and labelled him religious psycho killer. His actual words are " a bona fide super-crazy religious wacko".
