Hi Mat and Devlin. :-) Good to see a reunion of sorts over here discussing eps.

Did the BBC post an apology for the long XF absence before Tithonus aired? Yeah right. ;o(

I rather liked this one. Really Dev, you thought Ritter was pleasant? He was fairly hated by most people. The actor who played him is on an American sitcom called Two Guys, A Girl and a Pizza Place so if you ever see him referred to by anyone as Pizza Boy this is who they mean. I thought he was a young hotshot a little too big for his britches and I loved watching Scully put him in his place..."It's Scully! Only Mulder gets to call me by my first name which he doesn't do anyway but that's another story pal!" ;-) And I loved Mulder at the end telling him he's a lucky man. Yeah, lucky that Mulder didn't rip his eyes out if Scully had gotten killed. Ritter blew it big time.

I also liked seeing them doing all the regular work Mat. I'm with you. For some reason I think that adds a great element to the show. You'll see some of that in "Monday" as well which I think Mat has seen but Devlin hasn't so never mind. :-)

Was Mulder throwing pencils in the ceiling in this one or am I mixed up with SR819?

Devlin, I am puzzled in your thinking that Mulder seemed unconcerned about Scully going off without him. I thought he seemed really hurt. He was even worried that they were going to be split up especially if Scully did a good job and he knew she would so I think he was very worried. There's just not a lot he can do. Kersh has him on a short leash, I'm sure. That of course, doesn't stop Mulder from doing his own sneaky investigating anyway! ;-) He semed jealous of Scully too because she got an x-file. Mulder didn't care much for Ritter either even though he didn't know him. He only knew that he was responsible for dragging Scully away. I don't think talking to Kersh would have helped. Mulder knows Kersh hates him. And after hearing what Kersh said about Mulder to Scully in his office we know he wouldn't have given Mulder any sympathy at all.

There were shades of WOTC. It's always fun when they are separated and at least get to be on the phone with each other. Kind of Chingaish too. Nice how Mulder kept involved even though he wasn't supposed to be. He's so bad! I liked when Scully turned off his computer when Ritter entered the room so Mulder wouldn't get caught.

As for the story itself, well this has been a huge topic ever since this aired because of the connection with Clyde Bruckman. Now many people do think Scully is indeed immortal. Could be. CC really may have that in mind that Scully's something beyond mortal. Perhaps partly as a result of her abduction.

I thought the shooting scene was rather gruesome. Very chilling to see Scully like that. Not something we are used to. Scully's never been shot like that. I loved the end bit when Mulder was playing with her fingers in the hospital. Autumn Tysko, who posts great XF reviews, jokingly wondered if the two of them now had a secret handshake or something and maybe if they'd used that in Dreamland then Scully would have known it was Mulder and not Morris!

It was kind of surprising to see Scully go off with Felig and act more Mulderlike but it also reminded me of her behavior a bit in Beyond the Sea when she went off without telling Mulder.

Like Mat I also liked seeing moe of her in another element, something you both probably know we will have to get used to in Season 8! The scene with her protecting the prostitute and giving that guy what for was good. ToughCop!Scully! Although the woman then getting smashed by the car was a bit icky!

Overall I liked this one a lot and I thought the use of black and white was interesting. I do have one gripe though. I wasn't crazy about the performance of Felig. I'm not sure if it was the actor or if he was instructed to be so low key but I found him rather dull.

Well, off to find a good Tithonus piccie!

Oh, and Tithionus is something from Greek mythology but I forget what the story is. I'm sure someone around here will know.

There! I got through that whole post without even mentioning how good Mulder looked in the office with his sleeves rolled up! :-)

det :-)
