well, although i did say i wouldn't hold my breath, the source that i also heard that said the BBC would bring S7 on in the autumn was on Ceefax. surely they wouldn't print that if it were very unlikely?

as for the series breaks - it certainly doesn't wash with me. there are plently of programmes with long runs that the bbc finds time to air in one continuous run, or one or two breaks at most for a special one-off reason. i know it gets much higher ratings but casualty has a run of 24 eps, sometimes feature length on top of that as well. and without ad breaks TXF is only 40 mins long.
