Subject: Some Two Fathers/One Son memories
In reply to: devlin 's message, "Two Fathers (and One Son!)" on 14:00:32 07/10/00 Mon

I liked this episodes too and I had a hunch you all would as well!

I have decided after watching our Season 7 finale and thinking about this Season 6 myth arc that there's a little XF truism that can always be applied: There's no such thing as a bad XF episode if Krycek is in it!

Sometims we grumble about this episode or that, but it seems like whenever Ratboy makes an appearance we are in for something good!

I haven't watched these for awhile but here's some things that stand out in my memory:

I think my favorite dialog exchange was between Cassandra and Mulder...

Cassandra: "I'm think I may pee the floor."
Mulder: "Don't do that!"

I thought it was such a strange moment to see Scully being all sneaky getting Cassandra and Mulder to meet and then their little reunion. It was just different from the norm somehow.

So how does everyone feel about hearing that that was not Samantha in the Redux diner? Was it a surprise?

Krycek and Spender were an interesting pair. Cool scene with Spender seeing the green oozing stuff while Krycek explains a few things to him. This epsiode really threw eveyone for a loop. After months of referring to Spender as a weasel we are made to feel sorry for him here and suddenly it's 'poor Spender'! What a change! That CSM is really a heartless bastard. You know up to this point he had never done anything really terrible that I truly hated him for until this when he killed his son. And I agree with Devlin about that added sting by saying he paled to Mulder. Clearly CSM wished Mulder was his own son which may be a partial reason he kind of looks out for him. There has to be reason why Mulder hasn't gotten killed by now!
There's still a debate about whether or not Spender is actually dead since we didn't see it first hand. But I thought it was pretty clear. They couldn't exactly show him getting his head blown of. But I guess not letting us see him lying on the floor can leave things open. I wish the same were true for Agent Pendrell. :-(

The shower scene. I see SMH mentiond this, maybe someone else I haven't read through all the posts carefully yet. Mulder sure was giving Scully the once over and she maybe was looking too!
A lot of us also got the same feeling out of the basketball scene. Mulder seemed to be checking out Scully (who was wearing a skirt) as she walked in the gym (The exact shot is the picture on this page). Also the fact that he had to make that last basketball shot with her watching! Show off! All this has led to a lot of discussion about the fact that we believe Mulder is starting to look at Scully in a new light (don't run away noromos!). He seems interested. Whatcha think on that one people?

Cassandra's the one? I wonder if Mulder really would have shot her. I don't think he'd have gone through with it. Antother thing I remember about this not the first time but the second time I watched this was that the scenes with Cassandra and CSM were kind of scary. Moreso than your typical MOTW ep that's supposed to scare us. This was frightning on a whole different level with just the idea of what this man put his wife through her whole life. Making a lab rat out of her. Veronica Cartwright was really good in these scenes and the impact of what had been done to Cassandra scared me. I always found that type of scifi, where someone takes control of people's and they are helpless to be more disturbing than your standard slsher/horror movies.

Fowley. Ewwww! There's a huge faction of people who despised Mulder in these eps because of his behavior with Fowley and his treatment of Scully. Well one thing's for sure. He did NOT kiss her. She kissed him! Andd he didn't respond. He was Mr. Wooden Face. It was icky to watch though.

Does anyone remember the Mulder clothes poll I started on the old Dreamland board? You couldn't take part back then Dev but we had that huge thread talking about which outfit we liked best. he had a nice selection of outfits in these eps what with all the basketball duds. Don't worry, Mat, I won't restart that thread here! ;-)
