Subject: Fun to find the 'opposing angle'

I don't necessarily agree with my own suggestion about the basketball scene. Don't forget, I am a bit of fencesitter at times when it comes to assessing the MSR. I just think Mulder might have been more conscious of any possible embarrassment factor Scully might have, than joining the other sweaty men in a lust fest? Just my feelings on it.

OK, I'll wait and see how the 'toxic blood' angle pans out. I always want the show to be logical and usually you can trace it back, but in this area (and the 'shapeshifting' side of things) I'm not so convinced it *is* logical.

I think Spender lived his life with a huge chip on his shoulder. He was a mean-spirited man but I believe he sided with CSM, not just because he hoped his father was going to remake their lost relationship, but because he selfishly saw it as a way to 'get somewhere' and move up the ladder of power and success. He had sadly become alienated (no pun intended) from Cassandra, when he should have been more supportive. He chose to side with CSM when he got the chance, thereby betraying his mother. Spender's face when Krycek tells Spender that Spender is protecting the project that has done all the experimentation on his mother! It was good acting from Chris Owens. He could never be compared to Mulder, who is driven not only for himself but for the public good! Spender saw his mother's 'abductions' as annoying and somehow embarrassing to him! cf how Mulder feels about Samantha! I think Mulder was quite hard on Spender when Mulder refused to see Cassandra, but I suppose it was a way of getting a hollow victory over the man who stole his XF!

I did like Scully's involvement with the LG. Actually, she also went to see them about Diana Fowley, before, didn't she? In 'The End', when Frohike told her Fowley was "Mulder's chick-a-dee". She obviously sees them as someone she can talk to. That is a nice development. She won't have them too much in S8, though, I suspect, when they are in their own show!

Good post, Det. Lots to still think about and get one's teeth into. I love analysing the psychology...
