Subject: The Scully jealousy factor

I remember when this episode aired in the US there was a lot of debate given to the "jealousy" displayed by Scully in this episode. I, for one, was one that thought she wasn't being jealous, it was more of being protective.

Scully was rude to Karen, but only because she saw that she was trying to take advantage of Mulder. I didn't get the jealousy bit at all, because Mulder had absolutely no personal interest in Karen, despite how Karen felt. It's different than Bambi, who Mulder was obviously attracted to, or Fowley, who Mulder obviously has a past with.

And really, who can blame Karen? Can you imagine meeting someone on the internet, falling for him, and *then* finding out that he looks like Mulder? Goodness, it must have seem like a dream come true!

I really didn't enjoy this episode all that much, to be honest. I thought it started out well with the scene in the boat. For some reason it reminded me of the teaser in the Flukeworm episode where they make the Russian kid go into the sewage tank. I don't know why, I guess because they both occured on boats.
