Subject: I read it as jealousy
In reply to: Scully'sMyHero 's message, "The Scully jealousy factor" on 04:32:10 07/30/00 Sun

It is a similar argument against jealousy that people gave over Padgett in 'Milagro'. In Milagro, I think Mulder was showing jealousy, masquerading as protectiveness and now here's Scully doing the same thing, showing definite resentfulness against Karen, along with her 'protectiveness'. It is only a short step IMO, from one state of mind to the other. I think, for me, the reason I was mad at Scully this time (mad's too strong a word, but you get my drift) was that she was being jealous where there was no need. Mulder wasn't really interested in Karen that way and yet Scully was all fired up, going to see her and making her feel bad over liking/admiring Mulder. It was an irrationality this time. I could understand it with Bambi, etc. (and her jealousy with Bambi was less pronounced, sort of light-hearted) whereas here, we saw quite a tragic woman who had made a connection with someone and Scully almost went putting the boot in.
