It was 4 mini-series(as those in the US would call them). 3 were done in the 50s but later made into shorten movie version-2 done in 50s and last one in 60s. the 4th one was done in the early 70s and not remade but released on video in a shorten version.

The Quatermass Experiment: Good but fairly simple, guy goes into space and returns to slowly turn into a monster. Movie version: The Quatermass Xperiment

Quatermass 2: Aliens take over people and use them for an invasion or something like that(saw it long ago). Reminded me of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" or "The Invaders". Well done, spooky. Movie version: Enemy from Space.

Quatermass and the Pit: This is the best one, the one that probably is the influence on the mythology. A space ship is found under London and it unlocks the possiblity that life here was manipulated by Martians, a long dead race. All supernatural beliefs are actually things we got from the Martians or in reaction to them as they look like the devil. The Martians had telepathy and gave us this although its submerged and only a few actually have found theirs (second sight, et al). The ship releases old Martian orders to destroy that which is not theirs and all hell breaks out in London as people begin to kill each other. Very scary, the enemy was in us. The Biogenesis/Sixth Extinction arc reminded me of this. Movie version: Five Million Years to Earth.

Quatermass: In a future that is falling apart, young people seem to be over come by a need to gather at ancient sites around the world. Energy from space absorbs them. the sites were left by the aliens to use later to "harvest" humans for food. Quatermass the character is killed stopping this and one assumes this is it.

Excellent shows all. The TV versions are longer but better than the movie versions. The Quatermass Experiment exists only as parts 1 and 2 of a six parter as the remaining parts were sent out live and not taped.
