I know what you mean. Voices like that make me cringe too. I wonder, was that the actress' normal voice?

I wasn't around when this ep was discussed on this board, so I don't know what was said back then, but I'm sure somebody must've mentioned the stereotypical characters in this ep. Were many people bothered by that? Personally, I prefer more 'real', '3 dimensional' characters.

Whether it was intentional or not, the stereotypical characters in Rain King made me think about my own preconceptions, and how we tend to put labels on people we hardly know, judging them by the way they look, dress, or talk. At the end of the episode I ended up with a completely different picture of some of the characters than the one I had at the beginning. Sheila is no longer as irritating, instead I feel a kind of sympathy for her now. It was interesting to see how Holman - obviously a very different character (and background) than Sheila's - could fall in love with this woman.

Although I have some objections against this ep, it's by no means the worst of S6 IMHO. It's again a bit too shippy for my tastes, but aside from that I rather liked it - although I suspect that's partly because 'bad' can sometimes be very funny (i.e. the flying cow). Some great one liners though. Loved that line you mentioned, Dev.

Mat
