Since so many people think of this as the worst of Season 6 at least you can feel happy in knowing thw worst is over!(Although there are still a couple "clunkers"--as DD likes to call them--left). But at least the crummiest ep is behind you now. But lets trash it while we have it! :-)

People argued over the psychologist comment and I guess technically you could say he only got a degree in psychology and didn't actually do that for a living. But I agree with SMH, as a profiler I think he's a psychologist. But even more damaging evidence comes straight from the Pilot ep when Scully is asked in the beginning what she's heard about Mulder. We can assume her info is spoken partly for the viewer's benefit to clue us in on who Mulder is and Scully says and I quote, "He is an Oxford educated PSYCHOLOGIST." Are we to assume Scully was wrong? I don't think so because, as I said, this info was there primarily to speak to the tv viewers.
I don't know if you recall this Devlin but I actually asked you about this awhile back. I think ( I maybe remembering wrong) that you sort of agreed with people who technically thought the statement could be correct. Now that you've seen the ep has it hit you any different?

I hate to say this but rumor has it that line was a DD adlib. It didn't look like DD much cared about this ep so maybe he didn't care about the mistake he made. He seems less motivated when there's a bad script and I'm sure he thought so with this one.

I thought the opening teaser was gross! I didn't like that. And the award for stupidest scene goes to the end with the devil woman driving and the little devil baby's hand sticking out. Spare me!

I did enjoy the joke about the guy Scully was doing the background check on and her asking about his marijuana use. Now I'm blanking and I've forgotten his name but the guy's name was the same as a famous 60's activist hippy/pot smoker guy. Did you get that reference, non USers?

I agree Devlin, I liked getting a looksee at what Spender was doing to The X-Files. And how funny to know that Mulder goes through their trash! LOL Good for you Mulder!
But where the heck is Fowley?

I didn't like the fact though, that Mulder had all the pieces of the report Spender had torn up pasted together right there where the Sheriff could see them. Didn't the Sheriff wonder why Mulder had a shreaded report like that? THe scene was played strictly for the joke but wasn't real and so the joke's not that funny to me.

At least, as you say, we had a nice Mulder to look at! My favorite was when he slept in the car guarding the house and he woke up and put his jacket on as we watch him walk away (nice view!) and his shirt is all wrinkley. At least that part looked authentic. He really looked like he'd been asleep. I love a sleeping Mulder! :-) And him in that blue shirt with the sleeves rolled up. Mmmmm. :-)

In regard to other comments at the time, a lot of people were upset that Scully showed no reaction to all the baby graves considering her loss with Emily. People thought it was in bad taste that she was presented as seemingly unfeeling about this case. I think of it as more of just one more in a long string of them just not paying enough attention to past history. Nothing new there!

One observation I had when this first aired was I was thinking the use of the Garbage song, "I'm Only Happy when it Rains" just might have been a little inside joke/dig at all the people complaining about the move to LA from Vancouver. Expecially since the song was played whil a car (which LA has tons of) is zooming down a sunny California street (even though it was set in Virginia). In fact the area I heard this was filmed in isn't too far from where I live. About a half hour-45 min. drive away depending on our lovely LA traffic! :-p

Well there you have it. My least fave from Season 6 so onward and upward!

And Devlin I think you summed up the plot just fine! Not exactly Shakespeare is it?

det :-)
