I thought TOE was ok, even with the "not a psychologist blunder" and the "Mulder figures it out faster than you can say devil" trick.

Maybe it's because of my Catholic upbringing but I've always been fascinated by the use of devilish creatures to portray pure unadulterated evil. The interesting thing in TOE was that Wayne wasn't all that bad. In fact, he was pretty decent, as devils go. He just wanted to be normal so badly, he wanted a normal baby so that the cursed dynasty he was part of would finally end. Am I being too melodramatic here?
Maybe I am, but I just thought it was a rather tragic story.
He didn't want to be what he was and he certainly did not want his offspring to go through the torment he went through. Do you think he was a pure devil or was he a halfbreed like the babies he was having with all those women? I think he was a halfbreed himself and probably wished all his life to be just plain human. He absolutely hated himself and therefore felt nothing but hate towards the half-devil babies because he saw a reflection of himself in them.

He did do the right thing at the end and gave his wife her life back.(grasping at straws) ;o)

The tragedy was in the ironic turn of events. His worst nightmare actually coming true when that woman-devil gave birth to his devil-child. It's a classic tragedy if you think about it, unfortunately, very poorly written.

As for Mulder believing in Devils even though he doesn't seem to be very convinced their opposite exists (God, angels, good souls...) might be explained by the ep the "Calusari", another one of my fave devil eps btw ;o). In that ep, he came in very close contact with the entity possessing the little boy and one of the exorcists tells him "Be careful in the future. "It" knows you now". I think that just as "it" knows Mulder, Mulder knows "it". Just a thought. It is also possible to believe in evil (devils and such) creatures without being particularly religious. Many pagan stories portray such apparitions without tying them to any religion.

I'll tell you one thing, when you see "Agua Mala" you'll realise what a truly bad ep is. LOL! I can practically guarantee it. :o) TOE will become a masterpiece when compared to AM. :oP

So what's the next ep? Is it Rain King? Good luck. ;o)

C YA!
