It should be noted that I wrote my post before reading most of yours and it looks like we got much of the same thing out the the epsiode. One difference was that I didn't think abut Scully being lonley on Christmas Eve and using her present shopping to fill the time. I'm not sure if I agree 100% with that but it's an interesting idea! It could be that, with her line of work, she's just too busy to get her shopping done before that. The FBI may have given her the day off.

One thing that's a puzzle though is that she tells Mulder she has to go home to do some wrappng but we see in the car that the present are already wrapped! So maybe it was an excuse. But what sort of excuse. Why would she want to avod being with Mulder?

I forgot to mention I too loved Mulder in his apartment when the ther ws a knock on the door and he peeked arpound to see if there were more ghosts! It was fu to see M&S as "chickens"!

And the song coupled with Mulder sliding downstairs was indeed bizarre, but certainly interesting! Thinking of all the Christmas carols they could have picked this one really gave it an interesting feel.
