We may share alot of the same ideas, but you certainly expand on them better than I!

I agree about Scully being afraid of ghosts. After all she saw her father in her apartment sitting in a chair trying to speak to her just after he died of a heart attack in Beyond the Sea. And you are right, she WAS shook in Elegy when she saw two different ghosts!! Perhaps Mulder was just gently teasing her, trying to get her to open up a bit like he does from time to time.

I remember too the unhappiness over Mulder and Scully's seemingly out of character actions and responses a year ago, and now here too. Remember though, if given enough time we philes can rationalize just about everything. :-) Since these things didn't ruin the episode for me, this time, it was ok for me to let them go. As I said, I think the ghosts had them confused enough as it was that they may not have been literally "in character". (Talk about blurring the lines between reality and fiction!)

As for the psychoanalytical comments of Maurice and Lyda about Mulder and Scully, I wasn't mad at all. Far from it, I thought those scenes were hilarious! I mean, they were just right on, weren't they? But it was so funny because although the ghosts were so true in their interpretation, nothing about Mulder and Scully is that
simplistic or one-dimensional. LOL

BTW, Mulder tells Maurice he just wants to find his partner when he wearies of the psychological tormenting. Very nice comment from Mulder.

The keys. umm, I think Mulder took them from the car, but how does Maurice get them? *spooky* Loved the look on Mulder's face when he saw the keys in Maurice's hand, just like someone else mentioned. LOL! Hum, maybe he didn't have them, but 'made' Mulder think he did! BTW, I'm thinking the ghosts had no influence outside of the house. Maybe the foyer was even an "iffy" place for them. It could help explain how Mulder and Scully got away.

Additional fun memories:
Loved the look on Mulder's face when he strenuously climbed on top of the chair and pulled himself up, flashlight in mouth, to get to the upper floor, just to have Lyda go past him and down the re-appeared ladder. Ha!

RE: Scully's long spiel at the beginning. Usually when she starts her perfunctory skeptic rant I wish I could fast forward through it, (altough I know it's a necessary part of their interaction) but this time is was sooo drawn out and funny and so what you might do if you were scared, I was ROTF.

Same scene: Mulder's fear when she opens the door to the room. stammer, stammer, "um, I've got your back". Well, I'm convinced, Mulder!! Not!! LOL

Fun scene: Mulder poking Lyda with his finger to see if she was real and the look on his face. Ha!

Fun scene: Paramasturbatory. Ha! Raise your hands now, how many of you raced to the dictionary to look THAT up?! I thought so. Was it in your dictionary? ahem, wasn't in mine... Mulder's look and repeating the word a beat later was just too funny.

Comment: Weren't you totally shocked at DD's psychotic crazed demeanor when ghost/Mulder shot Scully? I think DD would perform quite well in a psychotic killer role - not so sure I want to see that, but I appreciated his acting range.

Oh, devlin, and to any others who feel the same, I'll add my sympathies too, to detoured's, I feel your frustration. sigh welcome to Season 6.
