Subject: YAY! Season 6 talks have started!!!

Hey you all!!

Finally new S6 talks! I've been offline for about 2 weeks due to this godawful flu my daughter and I have caught but I'm much better now and seeing as I can rehash S6 all over again I'm starting to feel like myself again.

Anyway as I was reading you guys reactions to the Beginning I remebered this thing I wrote a few months ago when I saw it and thought this would be the perfect opportunity to post it, here goes :

The Beginning - Sleepless Thoughts
**********************************

What can I add to the many discussions you guys have already had ?

First things first, you all were absolutely right when you were complaining at how BRIGHT the show is now. Where did all the light come from? As if I need to ask? ;o) I liked it dark and gloomy.

Mulder looks so good, he's tanned and I loved the hair. I always liked his hair really short. And has he been exercising? He looked really buff for some reason.

The Mytharc continuation was pretty good.We got to see all the alien mutating stages and that was quite spooky. Why does the newborn alien have to be so agressive? Does it feed on blood? And why does it shed it's skin so many times? Are we to assume that given the violence displayed by their new-borns the Gray aliens are a violent race? But then, where does that leave that alien baseball player from the Unnatural? He was nice. (I know, I know, I'm not supposed to know about that yet, but you know me Spoiler Junkie that I am ;o) ) Or are there many different kinds of grays?

On to the good stuff :The MSR...what the hell???? Is Mulder out of his mind?
Now, I saw this ep about a month ago for the first time and got so mad at him for treating Scully the way he did. Not so much for ditching her and running off to the plant with Diana but for the way he was at the end of the ep. On viewing it a second time, I could understand his resentment a bit better but I was still mad at him.
Ok, so Scully did let him down big time at that meeting with that FBI panel, but the thing is, what she said was true. She didn't see anything in the Movie, she was totally out of it, barely conscious after he revived her when he took her out of that "incubator" and she never saw the killer-alien babies trying to break free.
Then when they reached the top she was so exhausted she didn't even have the strength to look up and see the spaceship take off. Although she did manage to pull herself up and hug Mulder, for that she found strength, go figure...
As for the bee that stung her, at this point she has no idea what virus it was carrying so Scully being Scully is certainly not going to announce that it was extraterrestrial, when she doesn't have any proof yet. Gibson said to her in The End "You already know, you just don't want to believe it". He was right, deep down she knows something BIG is going on but she NEEDS the scientific proof as much as the very air she breathes. Nothing else will do, not for Scully. Mulder on the other hand has seen things that Scully hasn't seen and he doesn't need nor is very interested in the science behind it all, but as Scully very rightly pointed out to him time and time again, irrefutable scientific evidence of his theories will be his only saving grace.

They are the coolest team! But like in any team that works so closely together in such intense circumstances, they are bound to have arguments, some more serious than others. They'll be distant and will lose their special connection for a while, but , as is so often the case in very close relationships things eventually will get back to normal. They're human beings after all, albeit fictional, and these flucuations are completely normal. Sleepless, the psychologist!LOL!

So she lets him down at first, not because she wants to or doesn't believe him, but because she is not sure what he says can be corroborated. She doesn't tell him that she believes him until the end of the ep though, when she is practically begging him to give her another chance and he's still very ticked off at her. I hate that scene, sorry Det, but I really wanted to slap his sulky face right then and there! Which makes me admire DD's acting talent all the more.

I thought the whole MSR rapport in this ep was very believable and totally in character. Scully the cold scientist looking for evidence to help validate her partner's theories and Mulder the impulsive, angry little boy running around looking for mutating-alien creatures. Clashing minds of seasons past but with the added friction that familiarity tends to facilitate.

Speaking of little boys, poor Gibson! What they've done to him! And how can he be conscious when they're working on his brain!!!! Doesn't he feel any pain? Did I miss something? I thought except for the fact that he has the ability to read minds he was a perfectly normal child. I also felt really sorry for Scully when he said to her that "He's a very special lab-rat", didn't it look like she was reminded of Emily just then? Poor Scully. So where is Gibson now? And where is the alien from the nuclear plant? Did they go somewhere together? So many unanswered questions!

As for Diana Fowley I still don't know what to make of her.

Well you guys have probably talked about all this before, but how about some rehashing?
