Nah, only kidding. See, what happens is - people (me included) do take the first viewing as the definitive viewing and in many cases, it isn't the *best* viewing at the end of the day. You have to first get over your sheer excitement at seeing something new, before you can attempt to really formulate your opinions. But first impressions count - so here goes:

I was glad that 'Drive' was an 'old-fashioned' XF. It had all the ingredients. Mulder and Scully going off at a tangent, cell phones (and lost cell phones), M & S being separated and each playing an integral part in solving the case, getting into trouble by the boss, a government connected cover up.... It had all the elements. OK, so *Mr* Crump may not get many charisma points but he had character development, even as he was suffering. He stopped insulting Mulder! What a come down for our heroes, investigating "enormous piles of doo-doo". I was wondering which XF Spender and Fowley might have been following up, in the meantime.

I also thought it was funny when Scully appeared with the huge needle. It was like syringes at dawn "OK, Crump. get out of the car! Put your ears where I can see 'em".

So, has Kirsch's attitude pushed Scully more onto Mulder's side? Next time he wants to go off at a tangent, will she readily go with him? She was quite offended when Kirsch suggested she was apologising for Mulder and their actions, wasn't she? For her, it had been a worthwhile digression.

The only thing I was uncomfortable about, was this anti-Jew stuff. It didn't seem to enhance the plot at all and because Mulder knew Crump wasn't worth arguing with, the viewers were left with Crump's nasty accusations still in the air (IMO, anyway). If it had been integral to the story, I wouldn't have minded, but it seemed awkward and I didn't like Mulder being made vulnerable like that. Hopefully his sharp wit stops him being offended.

I thought it was an OK story - not great but with enough tension to keep you wondering until the end. Who guessed that Crump wouldn't make it? Do you think both he Mulder knew it?
