I liked this episode moreso when I saw a repeat of it a few months later too. Maybe it's jus one of those that grows on you. I liked it the first time but I thought it was a litle gross. Especially when Scully was digging around in Mrs. Crump's brain. Ewwww! Yuck!

I read somewhere that the opening sun shot was CC's little message telling people that they were indeed in LA now. I didn't pick up on that myself and I live here!

About the Jewish references. In the original script it was supposed to state definately that Mulder is Jewish, which I think is how DD wants it. I've seen the original dialog and have it saved somewhere but it might take me aes to trck it down. But in the end they changed the script and left Mulder's religion still a bit obscure. We can infer that he is but I also think anyone would get ticked off at Crump's comments. I liked that added character thing with Crump because it actually confirms something we already know about Mulder. He has compassion for all human beings, even a jerk like Crump, and it didn't alter his wishes to help the man. I very much like that aspect of Mulder's character and it was nice to see it shown here in this way.

I can't believe some of you Mulder lovers haven't mentiond some of those great Mulder scenes! How about Mulder leaning against the railing in those shades! (They didn't have a picture of that! :-( ) Not to mention PumpingGas!Mulder! (Or PumpingPetrol!Mulder for you Brits!) DD did a great job acting really panicked in some of this.

I liked the roles M&S had in this. Even though they were spearate for much of it, we still got a strong sense of their partnership at work. And they were both doing their traditional bits with Mulder running (or in this case driving) around and Scully doing the medical stuff and getting to use her expertise in that which we often don't see enough of.

One of the best parts was when Scully told the local police to just do whatever Mulder wants! That's kind of new for Scully isn't it? She's trusting his judgement without knowing what the whole situaiton is. And he's not around for her to discuss it with him so she has to hope he knows what he's doing this time! I think she does though and she believes in him so in a way it ties in with The Beginning where she perhaps learned a bit to have more faith in him.

The phone bit was great. Mulder really panicked when Crump threw it out. Great reaction! I enjoyed the scenes with Crump and Mulder in the car and would have liked more of that. These episodes are almost always too short!

I didn't think about Mulder peeing in the ocean either when I saw this but I can see why peope would get that idea from what Mulder had said before.

det :-)
