This didn't strike me as new for Scully. If I recall correctly she has always backed Mulder up. She generally saves her berating of his ideas and motives for private.

I really liked this episode. I had somehow missed it the first time it aired, and though I had only a vauge idea of the plot (spoiler shy gal that I am) but I had heard that a lot of people thought it was pretty weak. So when I did see it on the rerun I had very low expectations, which made it that much better when it was good.

I did like PunkSunglassesMulder! very much. I live for the sunglasses since it appears Agent Mulder has gotten that laser surgery and no longer needs reading glasses. If I'm not mistaken he was also wearing the blue shirt I like so much, but I could be wrong, it's been awhile since I've seen it.

I thought that the Jewish comments had some merit for the same reason that you mentioned, det. It showed what great character Mulder has. Here is this bigoted white trash redneck personally insulting Mulder, and he still wants to help him. I find it amazing that on some levels Mulder can be so ego-centric but on other levels very caring. And whoever came up with the "peanut picking bastard" line deserves some kind of one liner award.

SMH, who oddly enough really liked it when the blood squirted out of Mrs. Crump onto Scully.
