Actually, looking back, there are quite a few things that I *did* like about this ep. 1939 Scully (hmm... yes, loved to see her in that dress!!), the sequence at the FBI HQ that you mentioned... And when I read through everyone's posts I noticed that we agree on more than a few points. I still mean to reply to those posts, but I'm afraid I won't manage it this weekend. I'll be off to Germany early tomorrow morning.

Anyway, you were right, this one was a *lot* better than TFWID. But... despite lovely-Scully, butt-kicking-Scully, worried-Scully, and "Oh Brother"-Scully, I still can't say I really liked this ep.

It's not that I don't like the "did it happen, or didn't it" eps, usually that's just what I love about TXF. I *love* to speculate! BTW, PMP was one of my favourite S5 eps. I'm not sure if I can explain why it was different in the case of TFWID and Triangle (Triangle reminded me of The Field, and I dislike it for much the same reason).

I guess most XF stories are believeable in a (weird) way. You know it's not real, but at the same time it's more real than any other series about SF or the paranormal. I like to see that (semi-) realism. In TFWID and Triangle that feeling of realism was missing. I thought "Am I supposed to believe this is really happening?". I felt like I had no choice but to assume that it was all a dream. That was the only way that the story still made some sense to me. It really annoyed me that I had could not find a credible sounding explanation (excuse might be a better word in this case) for what had happened.

I guess all of this may sound kinda weird, but hey, that's what I am: WEIRD!! ;o)

As I (more or less) mentioned before, I had the feeling that this ep was written and produced with only two things in mind: it had to look good and "sex sells" (which in terms of TXF means there was a kiss! ;o) ).

Mat

P.S. More when I get back. I'm really getting in the mood now!! Nic, look at what you've done!! ;o)
I still hope to find a good theory about what really happened, anyone want to help me??
