Hi All!

I'm just tacking onto Nic's post because it was really long and I can't remember everything she wrote but I'll be referring to other comments in the thread too. Btw Nic you'll have to take ad space out next time you write this much! hee hee! J/K, I enjoyed your post and everyone else's too!

Now the quote in my subject header...I'm not sure if it's exact or not but it's from DD :-) and he said it when interviewed about the Triangle kiss before the ep first aired here. Just thought you'd all like to hear his impressions!

I really loved this episode. I remember having a big smile on my face when it ended. I just thought it was so magical. Devlin maybe we can convince you to like it more like we did with PMP! ;)

To dream or not to dream...I think the controversy that Chantal addressed about whether it was a dream or not is part of what makes the ep so special. This is The X-Files after all and we're not supposed to understand or figure out everything but continue to speculate. I tend to lean toward the dream idea. It fits Mulder's conscience. Chantal, if you read this, it's funny you mentioned the Scully at the FBI segment being part of Mulder's dream because that was one of my big theories when this first aired and everyone I mentioned it too thought that idea was ridiculous! Where were you when I needed you! ;-)

But it does make sense that way. I agree Scully acted a bit weird. But I don't think it was weird if Mulder was dreaming it. Dreams are weird. They can be completely wacko and make no sense so it doesn't necessarily have to be the way Mulder sees Scully. It's just a dream. But I think it's fun to play it that way for our benefit. Scully his hero coming to the rescue! (A possible tie in to his bizarre thoughts in Killswitch with Kung Fu Scully?) One thing that makes me think Scully's adventure might be part of Mulder's dream is seeing the CSM in Kersh's office. Mulder seems to dislike and maybe distrust Kersh from the get go so he might harbor suspicions about Kersh having a CSM connection. After all Smokey used to hang around in Skinner's ofice too. And it is odd for TLG to just watlz into the FBI but in Mulder's dream, why not?!

BTW. a looong time ago I used to post on the old Fox forum that I wished we could have an ep where Scully goes on an adventure with The Lone Gunmen looking for Mulder. They had never really "worked" together before. And voila! I get my wish! I like to think 1013 read my posts back then! :-)

There are a couple puzzling things that can make us think this isn't a dream as I think was menioned, Scully walking through herself. Great image! And Mulder's bruise on his cheek from the punch. Of course people say he could have goten injured from the shipwreck but that's no fun! So who knows? I just enjoy!

I loved the sequnce with the swing music and the fighting soldiers and M&'39S running through the hall and then the Gunmen and Scully walking aorund. All that was wonderull choreographed. For some reason Scully and the gunmen walking around made me think of that part in Star Wars when Han Luke and Leia are walking around the Death Star.

What I particularly liked about this ep was the parellels it drew between the characters and their 39 counterparts. We have Scully declaring to everyone "I'm the scientist!" Yes, Scully, we know you are ALWAYS the scientist. We have Skinner once agin spliting his allegiance, trying to be a good soldier but always looking out for Mulder and Scully. And we have 39 Kersh who rushes in to take over the ship and guide it in a new direction (in that case Jamaica), possibly giving us Mulder's feelings about where the heck present day Kersh is leading he and Scully with their new assignments.
And we have CSM and Spender as Nazis because Mulder sees them both as evil. He Obvioulsy doesn't trust Spender!

And I loved 39 Scully mentioning Einstein! Did she read Scully's graduate thesis too? Or did she help her write it? :-)

My only complaint was the darkness. What was up with that? I loved the camera technique, a trubute to Alfred Hitchcock's "Rope". For whoever mentiond it, All of the sewgmanets were done that way in one continuous shot, Big cheers should be given to all the actors who kept the pace. And espeially to GA who I thought did a great job diiferentiating herself as a 1939 Scully who was decidedly different but eerily similar to the real one.

But the darkness did make it hard to make out things such as Muolder's big grin after Scully punches him. "I as expecting a left". I wonder does Mulder think that's what the real Scully would do if he tried to kiss her? And why does he like that reaction so much? Hmm, so he wants Scully to get rough eh? Well..better not go there!

Mulder also doesn't like Soender so certainly he dreams that his girl Scully would give him what for and call him a weasel. And Scully kissing Skinner? Who knows? It's a dream! Maybe he secretly worries that she has a thing for bald FBI asistant directors.

The "saving your ass" line was one of the best. And Langly's "I Want Some" too.

I enjoyed seeing more of the halls of the FBI building. Just a tease for you BBCites, but we get a lot more of that throughout the season. they must have spent a lot of time building the set so they'd better make good use of it! But it makes things seems more real rather than just jumping downstairs to the basement office. And seeing the other emploees reactions to Scully was funny. Like fanfic stories that always portray people taling about M&S behind their backs and thinking they are a couple of nuts!

As for the negative comments, I can understand Mat's reservations about thinking it was just an exerise in doing an ep that looked cool. And in a way it was. Like PMP the previous year, CC tries to do something different to get that elusive Emmy nomination he wants. What's too bad is that they really deserved it for this. Whether it was just everyone showing off or not they did a great job with it.

Another it of info: DD mentioned that this ep and Drive were two of the best of the season. In his opnion of course!

det, somewhere over the rainbow...
