Subject: Mulder's Dream

You've got a point there, Devlin. I agree with what you said about the dream theory. What we saw definitely had a dream like quality to it. I thought those long continuus sequences were really well done. That bit where the two Scully's crossed in the hallway was nice, makes you wonder if maybe it wasn't a dream after all.

Now suppose it wasn't a dream... (I still think it is). Is Scully's panic over Mulder's disappearance really so out of character? We may not have seen her in such a state before, but I think nobody will disagree when I say Scully truely cares about Mulder. In this ep Mulder's life is in immediate danger, and its a very real danger, it has nothing to do with the paranormal, and so it is something Scully can deal with. As a doctor, Scully knows that Mulder cannot survive in the water for long. In fact, it is doubtful she can save him at all. Desparate times require desparate measures. I *was* surprised about the kiss though, and about her asking Spender for help. But even that can be explained, I think. After all, we all do things that seem out of character every once in a while, and it is clear that Spender has connections at the top of the FBI/government, Scully probably knows that too. Maybe I'm just making up excuses, but I'd like to think this ep was not so bad as I initially thought.

Mat
