Subject: No, Mulder seemed genuine to me at the end

I haven't seen many posts about the "I love you" moment. is that because all the shippers just died and went to heaven and were lost for words? ;) I have been thinking about this moment and it was quite dramatic for me, as well as being vey amusing too (Well done all round!) I mean, there was Mulder, his head full of fond thoughts and his mind right on Scully. We knew this and we knew why he was feeling so proud and happy to know her. It was impetuous but the moment he said it, his face lit up and he seemed so relieved that he had made that utterance. In a way, those words are the only words that best friends *OR* lovers want to hear. And what does Scully think? Does she "Oh brother" him because she is embarrassed, or because she thinks he's embarrassing himself, maybe? I think the latter - that she feel somehow his words, whilst heartfelt, are a little inappropriate to the circumstances. And of course, her joke allows her a cooling off period whilst she lets his declaration sinks in. Or else she really didn't want to hear it, which I can't believe.

Thoughts, anyone?
