Excellent review, Devlin! I could make my reply on your post a very short one, 'cos "ITA" sums up my thoughts on your review quite nicely. I'll add a little more of my own though, and I hope I'll manage to do half as good as you! A little word to all you other old eps peeps out there: I'm still very much amazed at the things you guys notice. And Chantal, I don't think you really need a guy around, you girls are doing a much better job than I ever could. (Fortunately, I can blame part of it on the language problem. It's still quite hard for me to phrase my thoughts in another language.)

Back to Dreamland. This ep has become one of my all time favourites. The reason for that is something you (Devlin) have already mentioned. I addition to it being very humourous, it also makes a lot of sense as an X-file. I really get a kick out of those scientific bits. I love to speculate about such things. While we're on that subject, did anyone get a good look at that map? Did that anomaly propagate (is that the correct word?) in the same way the riples in the water do when you throw a stone in a pond? If so, isn't it kinda strange that someone at ground zero would switch bodies with someone 35 miles away? BTW, I loved that Grandma Topgun line, classic!

I loved the 'Sunflower Seed' scene too. It's so typical of the MSR. Very intimite, and yet... It never becomes 'mushy' like so many other 'love' scenes in other TV series do. ITA with you, Devlin, that this is one of the nicest MSR moments to date. I kinda expected Scully to hug Mulder too, but I don't think it was his looks that held her back, I'd hate to believe she is that shallow.

A thought that occurred to me this morning was whether M&S's little chat in the car at the beginning of this ep was inspired by the events in Triangle. Was Scully testing Mulder? Was she trying to find out how he really feels? Was she disappointed by his reaction, maybe? And was that why she kept her distance later? Is she, after all this time, after all that's happened and said, still afraid of letting *her* feelings show? Personally, I'm convinced that she loves Mulder as much as she loves her. (For those of you who wonder: I still don't want them to get together in the series, in that respect I'm still a noromo).

I thought everyone played their roles very well. As usual, I was very impressed with GA's performance. I loved the looks of horror at 'Mulder's behaviour. Lots of great facial expresions from Mulder too, BTW. I thought DD and the actor who played Morris Fletcher did an excellent job. I was ROTFLMAO during the Dance scene. Don't know how they managed that, but it looked absolutely real. I was completely in stitches throughout most of the scenes that featured 'Mulder the married man and father'. He did a *lousy* job, didn't he?! Can't really blame him though. Who'd do better adjusting overnight to married life and two kids going through the worst of puberty? Remember that in, for example, Emily, Mulder seemed to do a lot better with kids.

There's so many great moments that it hard to pick a specific one, but what really stood out for me in this ep was how involved Scully has become in Mulder's work, how much it has become a part of her life as well. I loved those moments where we got to see the evidence of this, like when Scully was in Mulder's appartment and says (so mad she can barely speak) "Am I out of my mind? Mulder, you are out of your mind! What is up with you?! I'm thinking about having you examined for mental illness or-or drug use or... Or maybe a massive head injury! This is an X-File your life's work, your crusade!" It's even more clear later on in the ep, in the Sunflower Seed scene.

I guess the waterbed scene is among everyone's favourites. Great move, Scully!! *LOL* Just as you Devlin, I think it was a huge leap for Scully to accept the body switching on no more than her own feelings and her knowledge of the real Mulder. I think that was very significant. Do you remember our recent discussion about Scully's believes? I think this is an excellent example of an ep where Scully seems able and willing to belief without having all the scientific proof.

This is getting really long (for me anyway). I hope someone makes it to the end of this post without falling asleep!

Mat
