Subject: Some general Dreamland complaints...but not much! ;-)
In reply to: devlin 's message, "Top marks for the Dreamland two parter!!" on 14:00:36 01/28/00 Fri

I'm glad you liked Dreamland Dev! I wpouldn' want you to dislike two eps (actually 3!) in a row! LOL. I know, I'm just kiding you about Triangle!

I enjoyed this two parter (which is how I saw it and maybe sam and Mat did origianlly as well) a lot though it didn't end up making my top eps of the season list.

I had a couple problems with it. I did a lot of defending of Scully back when this first aired not figuring out it wasn't Mulder quicker. Just as you said Devlin, she was seeing Mulder and had no reason to suspect otherwise. Would anyone? No matter how strange a person acted are you going to think, maybe there's been a body switch!? But I think people's arguments were that Scully had been through this before in Colony/End Game wih the Bounty Hunter and in Small Potatoes wih Eddie Van Blundht.

But besides her still being the staunch sceptic, we can add to her defense that part where Mulder is talking with her from the pay phone and he realizes she doesn't even remember that night at Area 51 when the switch happened. So she doesn't even have that as possible reason for anything to be haywire.

But maybe she could have a least been more suspicious of Mulder's behavior sooner. Why didn't she ask why he kept calling her Dana when he hadn't done that in a long time? It's funny that she started really thinking he was acting weird after he slapped her behind! I guess we can assume Mulder has never done that off screen either!

Everyone is picking on poor Mulder being a bad father but as Mat was saying, he got thrown into a family with two teenagers right away! I think he's very good wih litle kids as we've seen before. And this family does seem a bit difficult. Another thing is that the wife really got on my nerves with all her screeching. It's kind of hard to blame Morris for any neglect of her. What a shrew! But the scenes with Mulder and his family were among my favorite parts in this ep. And didn't he look great in his sloppy white dress shirt! :-)

One big thing that a lot of people were upset about with this ep (there were many who didn't like it, some did) was the fact that Mulder missed a golden opportunity. Here he was at Area 51--a place he wanted to get to so badly and he didn't do any investigating of what went on there. I can see people's objections but I think he had other concerns on his mind. When you've switched bodies with another person, getting back to who you are tends to be your first priority!

We can also inject something very personal here regarding his priorities. He was at Area 51 and yet all of his thoughts revolved around getting back to his old self and getting back to Scully. I think that's been a big thing with him going back to Scull's abduction and the Colony/End Game swap fopr Smanatha on the bridge. Scully is more important in Mulder's life than his quest now when it comes right down to it.

LOL on what Mulder gets up to in the privacy of his own home! Lets see moe dancing in front of your own mirror Mulder and whatever else you might do! ;-)

And how'd everyone know we called it the Sunflower Seed scene?! I guess philes just think a lot alike!

Well I'll add some comments to a couple other posts too and then you'll all be sick of me! ;-) Well it is a two parter so there's more to cover.
