Devlin, I totally agree - this was a disturbing episode. All the eps I find most disturbing are the ones that are actually based on possibility (the creepy Donnie Pfaster in Irresistible springs to mind again). Serial killers do exist. Necrophiliacs are not a figment of someone's imagination. And incest does happen. None of these facts makes me feel good about being a member of the human race, but if the media and TV refuse to make programmes about distasteful subjects, then really, that is censorship.

I can quite see why you found this ep disgusting. It was. I think the writers intended it to be. I don't think they could have made this subject anything else. And I can see the argument that maybe this type of subject matter should be left to serious, documentary style discussion programmes and not touched by the mainstream. But if that happened, a whole swathe of people would not ever think about anything other than whether the latest soap brand is better than the previous one.

I'm exaggerating, obviously, but I truly believe that TXF took a brave step in deciding to make an episode based on the possible (albeit unlikely) consequences of incest. And I believe it was well done as an X-File.
