Today in my astronomy class we were talking about asteroids and meteors and the like, when someone asked what would happen if a decent sized asteroid hit the earth. My prof began talking about how in 1908 something crashed to earth in Tunguska, Siberia that killed all life in about a 300 mile radius. I just stared at the prof, thinking, "I've heard this before from...Mulder...if only my prof looked like Mulder." He said that when it happened the forest fires were so strong in Russia that you could see them at night in London! I thought that was interesting. Anyway, he said after awhile it was determined by scientists that it was a meteor. Then my prof got this very serious look on his face and said, "But, of course, if you watch X-Files you know what that whatever really crashed into the earth contained alien life which eventually caused a new cold war in a race to create a vaccine against alien colonists." Just about everyone in the class looked at him as though he were a nut, but I appreciated it!
