I think Cookie below has a good point in that Scully got really attached to Em before she even knew she was hers. I think seeing Bill and Tara having a baby brought Scully's hurt of not being able to have her own kids to the surface. As she said she didn't know how much she wanted it till she couldn't have it. I think that even if Em wasn't hers she would still have had a stong attachment to her. As Bill said something like "You just want a child" and she was seeing the possibility in Emily. I dont' think the DNA made any difference to Scully. Way back in the early seasons I recall Scully becoming attached to a young boy who had Jesus like qualities if I remember correctly. I think the maternal instincts are quite stong in her. She is always attentive and nurturing towards children. Gibson is another EG of this. I don't think the DNA attachment has sunk into her yet. Personally, I would not like to think that my own flesh and blood are running around the country side having God knows what done to them . That is my personal feeling on the matter.

We never hear of Emily now so I don't think the attachment lasted. Apart from that show where Scully 'saw'her, there has been no mention of her and she doesn't seem to get sad around Christmas time. Or New Years. I'm sure Emily was not in her mind when Mulder kissed her this year.

It was a strange story and I really didn't go much on it. As I said before, I don't think they should have gone into it that deeply to the point of creating an actual child. I think that gave me a "too far fetched even for XF" jolt.

Well , it was good to discuss with you again cvl.
