I know a lot of people got really upset about this ep when it first aired, SMH, and I assume a lot of that was to do with Mulder's attitude to Scully. I think it is worth bearing in mind, though, that he's been kicked in the guts repeatedly, both before and during this ep.

He did behave badly towards Scully. And looking back that could be construed as manipulation, especially considering what he said to her in FTF. But I prefer to give him a little leeway (especially with such a cute haircut! ;o) ). Scully could have warned him before the meeting that she couldn't back up his story. She didn't, and it's possible he felt more hurt by that even than by them taking the X-Files away from them again.

I am reminded of a wounded animal - it knows that it's hurting and the reflex action is to lash out at the source of the pain, ie, Scully.
