I think the reaso Gibson was left alone in the reactor was that the alien sensed that he was one of their own kind so it didn't hurt him and then they did communicate with each other. Does Gibson fully understand his origins? Was he looking at the alien thinking, "that's a part of what I am"? How much does he know and understand?

I for one am still in Mulder's corner. So if Nic wants to walk out on him I'll still be there with him! ;-) He did overreact at tiems but I liked seeing that and I understand his view and I understand Scully's as well. Remember how he felt out there on the ice in Antarctica sharing that special moment with Scully That was very important to him and he was so happy to have the most important person in his life be there with him. Who could forget that smile when the ship passed over and he looked at her? He wasn't just happy at seeing the ship, his happiness came out of the two of them witnessing it together for a change. Like way back in Deep Throat when the UFO light show was going on at the airbase, what did he do? He rushed back to the car and grabbed her, "Scully, you gotta see this!"

So when she later lets him down by not remembering or at least by not telling the panel that they did indeed see something there, it was like she punched him in the gut. His wonderful sharing spaceship memory was spoiled. So he ran around like a hurt little kid and maybe didn't react as maturely as he might have. But who of us haven't done the same thing is certain situations?

I agree with Dev that he was on a mission to get tht hot litle alien in his hands. Whenever he's close to something he won't let anyone stop him. Even Scully. He wants her with him to share it, but this last thing she did really smarted and he gave up on her. Noit soemthing eh wou;ld ever do per,manetnly, just moe of a "well tpo hell with you then, Fine! Be that way!"
