Subject: Welcome Mat! On Scully backing Mulder...
In reply to: Mat 's message, "Loved 'The Beginning' - more of this please!!" on 13:25:56 01/06/00 Thu

First off I'm sorry for that terribly bad pun in the subjct header! So Mat, you have seen some of S6 right but up to this point only in Dutch and now you are seeing the shows in English on the BBC? Or have I got that ll wrong?

I was thinking thst there must be other instances when Mulder had wanted Scully to back him up srictly on faith with no proof and he was annoyed when she didn't. Someone mentioned the "1 in 5 Billion" quote in an ep which was kind of the same thing. He wanted her to believe him. That's been an issue with him moreso lately. In his mind he tells himself how much he loves her "strict rationality" but his heart wants her to "have the strength of his beliefs". I think that's where the religion argument between them has come into play. He can't understand her faith there but not her faith in something more tangible--him.

MAt, thanks for clarifying on Scully bringing, or in this case not vbriogn, the evidence to the hearing. I haven't watched this for a while. I agree that fits in well and the writers made that make sense. But even without the clear evidence, Mulder still wanted that faith from her and hoped she'd support him, but she won't without proof. He knows tht about her but it stil annoys him. Sounds like a couple of real human beings to me!

It's great to see the old gang again! I had been in touch with some new BBCites from the Fox boards who were going to stop by but I haven't seen them yet. I hope we haven't scared them off!

det :-)
