...will the explanation fit with what we know or is it a REAL stretch. I don't see this idea that All Things WASN'T the first time as a real stretch and in fact it would explain a few inconsistent plot points that were REAL stretches. You make a good point KM but there are easily alternative view points. That Scully would wake up cranky from a stiff neck calls for a conclusion that is not supported by the show as far as I've seen.

So...we could just as easily conclude that Scully suffers from insomnia when she sleeps over at Mulder's place(the show even halfway supports this conclusion because even when she is there late with him as she was when his mother died she is not sleeping). So since she finally fell asleep Mulder was reluctant to move her and risk her being awake all night.
