I think CC did the William thing so that he had a story for the 9th season. lol. I liked the William story line. Something had to be done for the show to continue. I like the idea of Mulder and Scully having a baby. That's about as shippy as it can get. I loved in the finale when she said "Our son, Mulder" [twice]And when he said that he missed both of them so much. That's a shipper's dream come true, I think.

When he told the soldier he was thinking of them he said "I'm thinking about my son. About his mother."
I think Mulder will try to find William and get him back but i don't see how they can do this because he has been legally adopted and those poor new parents will love him and not want the real parents turning up on the doorstep to take him away. I would like to see them find him either through investigation or by chance during their course of staying out of sight for a while. I'd like to see them then decide to go off and leave him in safety with the new parents while they combatted the aliens but then return for William as he will be needed to defeat the aliens one day and by that time the new parents would have realised that he is not a normal child. Just my fantasies about the future of XF

I don't think M and S will be worrying about birth control. After all she is barren. I am sure that William was conceived by doing the NP with Mulder and he is Mulder's child but I think her fertility was boosted or restored by the treatment given by the Dr during the time she was trying to conceive invitro. That was when they were trying to implant her with an alien baby, or Mulder's baby. Perhaps she was not totally barren but barren enough not to be able to conceive naturally or unnaturally even. But the technology of the Drs might have kick started some very immature ova that were left and after the invitro was stopped, she and Mulder did the NP a few times and .....the rest is history. Then the aliens could not work out if the baby was natural or one of their's so they had to go to the birth to see for themselves. But when they found a human child they went away disappointed or they were content to know that they got what they had been working for. A human looking alien hybrid-getting the alien bit from Mulder who I believe is part alien or was implanted at a young age with DNA that CSM took back from him in that operation. OH, CC should have explained this part of the myth in the finale. lol.
If M and S were to have another baby I think they would be able to keep it safe because there are two of them. I think Scully would not have given William up if Mulder had been with her. She really had no support for her unique type of problem as Mulder was the only one who could ever understand the danger their son was in and he was gone,,,,perhaps for good. She didn't know he was alive and that she would ever see him again. She really didn't have a choice about placing W for adoption under the circumstances. I certainly do not envy single parents in average circumstances let alone one who's child is wanted by aliens and keeps getting abducted, injected and attracting the interest of all sorts of dangerous strangers. Poor Scully. Noone in her world fully understood and if Mulder had been there it would definitely been a different outcome.

I too marvel at the tragedy in Scully's life. You rattled off all those happenings so well, Islandgirl. And I agree that [as usual] they are doing what Mulder wants. He went south and of course she just has to go too. Whatever he wants, they do. Stupid man should have gone to Canada and gotten on a plane. Where can they hide in America? Is it possible? I think they should go to the Everglades and live in a tree house in the swamp. Noone would find them there. OR maybe they should disappear in NY city. Too many people to find them. I'd like to see a movie to know how and where they are hiding. I never thought I'd feel like this but I'd like to see season 10. Oh no! don't tell me i'm thirsting again. Someone help me!!!!! i think maybe Marita will help them.

Islangirl, I think that final hand holding scene of the finale must have really been your undoing. The worst scene for you in the whole series. I remember thinking of you as Scully's ring finger jumped off the screen at me and I saw that there was NO RING!!!!!on it. I thought, "poor islandgirl, her hopes will be dashed forever now." I could imagine you telling us all that they must have gotten secretly married before they got to that motel room , had that hand hold not been shown. But it was as plain as day. I wonder if CC did that deliberately. It was quite obvious. And I really think that he did it for your benefit Islandgirl. But don't worry. There's always the future. If they can manage to fight it. :-)
