It sounds like you are watching on the BBC.
Well Mulder was abducted by aliens at the end of the 7th season. BBC is now showing the 8th. So he will be absent for while. Scully is pregnant. A new Agent (John Doggett) has been brought in. Mulder will return later though so stay tuned!

If you need more info let me know. Since you are watching on the BBC you might want to join in the discussion on the Season 8 board where another BBC viewer posts but you can look around all the boards. We'd be happy to have you!
