Please accept my sincere apologies for the gross error you have brought to my attention. While it is no excuse, I feel obligated to alert you, and all of the Gazette's faithful readers, that our copy editor, Eve, has been involuntarily committed to an insane asylum. Alas, we do not know when she will be allowed to return to work.

On a brighter note, the paper's ombudsman will return to work next week after undergoing surgery (ultimately unsuccessful) to repair the eye which was bit into by Eve. The entire Gazette staff is now required to attend anger management sessions.

Again, I apologize for any misunderstanding or embarrassment our oversight may have caused you. I do thank you for your vigilance, and we will strive on our end to maintain our high journalistic standards.

Perhaps I can take you out for a drink to make up for this little incident?
