Every one rushes outside to hear the day's chairwoman speak.
" Come one, come all" implores the chairwoman. Today is Kenamom's birthday. Not only is she 40 but we are happy to note that she doesn't look a day over 39. Must be all that alcohol's preservative qualities. Now it is time for the bath tub derby [ or "dahby" for Stardoe's benefit] so come over to the lake and launch your vessels. "

Islandgirl and Rabid drag their tub down to the lake edge. It is beautifully decorated with vinyl contact, showing pictures of Mulder putting a ring on Scully's finger from every angle imaginable. The sail has been spray painted with a wedding photo scene starring the famous shippery duo. The two literary inclined pair, sit in the tub waiting for the starter's gun.

Kande and KS have a lovely black painted Morono tub with black and purple streamers and a green sail. Both sicken the watching crowd by taking off their black beach coats to reveal matching green and purple horizontally striped bikinis with high cut legs and plunging neck line. Everyone turns away and does not see that they have named their tub "Frohikedidit"

CW invites the mayor to co-crew her tub. A beautifully decorated vessel with a quilted sail. At the bough is a knitting needle with a piece of knitting hanging down where the mermaid should go. The knitting has been fashioned to show the Existence Kiss. Everyone goes "ooooooooooooh" and smiles. Kenamom is very glad to be seen in this tub and gives CW a big hug.

Witchawoman and Lana are too busy hanging fire crackers from the Sydney Harbour Bridge replica above the lake to take part. They motion Detoured to push their tub into the lake and then proceed to get their remoted controls out of their rigger's belts.

Melissa and Stardoe launch their tub. Shippery pink with various trinkets hanging from the gantry. Surprisingly there is no sail. The other competitors eye the craft suspiciously wondering what form of cheating trickery Stardoe has rigged up to power their tub. Stardoe stands up to give them all the finger but gets her hair stuck in Scully's cross that is hanging down above her. OR is it the zipper from Mulder's jacket? Noone can tell from this distance. Melissa jumps up to help her and hits her head on the Erlemyer Flask. She topples over into the water with a humongous splash. Luckily Witchawoman has her fishing pole and pokes her over to the bank.

Bubba and Mulder get in their tub. They have decorated it like a space ship which makes Mulder a little nervous. Bubba is berating Mulder for insisting on bringing that stupid laptop. Mulder has a ridiculously mushy look on his face as he obliviously types away on it leaving Bubba to do all the sailing.

Everyone else launches their tubs. Everyone is set.
Detoured raises Stardoe's Glock and fires into the air. The race has begun.
