Or just a shot of the bedroom door closing and us knowing they both went in there.

Or how about a mirror of the Pilot/Erlenmeyer scene. We get a shot of Scully waking up in bed to a ringing phone. She wakes up sleeply and answers it. "Scully", she says. She has an exasperated look on her face as she turns over and looks at the other side of the bed... "Mulder, why are you calling me on your cell when I'm right here?!"

Mulder: "Old habits are hard to break Scully."
