Subsequent to the debacle of the massive cost over-runs of the Poolside Restaurent and Doubles Squash Court, each new GC has spent a great deal of time and money on proposed renovations to the Club premises. Some of these necessary projects have been potponed or even neglected for years, for fear of incurring substantial and unpopular costs, with the resulthat the initial cost estimates have increased manifold.

Does our President and the GC truly believe that the majority of members will approve the proposed New Plan ? It has come to the point when the members should seriously consider selling the presnt valuable property and apply the sunstantial proceeds to building a new all-purpose club at a cheaper location. Our pragmatic Singapore Government would likely assist to provide a suitablealternative site. We could even finish up with money in the Bank instead of friterring away our capital on continuous renovations whithout adding any real value to the delapidating building we now occupy.
